Recipes: Citrus and Spice Blend
In the days before refrigeration, air shipments and large-scale trucking networks, fresh fruit was a rare and expensive treat in the depths of winter. Often these precious fruits were studded with cloves, rolled in ground spices and carefully dried, thereby preserving the pungent, spice aroma for months or years to come. The bright scent of citrus and spice have dramatic effects on the feelings of lethargy and gloom that accompanied the cold, gray winter days. This spicy citrus blend is reminiscent of a clove-studded orange. Its aromatherapy benefits are heartwarming and uplifting.
