In A Rut?

It's easy to fall into a routine and let life pass you by. Everyone at some point in their lives has fallen into a rut, but you don't have to stay there. If you are depressed or unsatisfied with your day-to-day life, don't let another day pass you without doing something about it. Take the bull by the horns and shake things up a little bit.
Take a trip
If you've always dreamed of going to France, would like to take an eco-trip or would just like to hit New York City, don't wait another day to book your trip. Often, seeing how another culture lives or experiencing new things is enough to inspire you and make you see things differently. Even if you can't find someone else to go with you, make your travel arrangements anyway, because going solo is another great way to reinvigorate your soul.
Look through the want ads
Maybe it's your job that's got you down. If you absolutely dread getting up in the morning or think the weekends go by too fast, then it's probably time for a change. You spend a good portion of your time at work, so why not make the most of those hours? Think about what makes you happy and find a career you'll enjoy going to everyday.
Mix it up
One of the easiest ways to stop the monotony of your life is to change up your routine. If you always come home straight from work, why not stop at a coffee shop, go to a movie or meet a friend for a drink? Something as small as taking a different route to and from work can make you see things in a new way. There's no law that says you have to be in by 8:00 p.m. on a weeknight, so shake things up and hit the town!
Get the blood pumping
Exercise is one of the greatest ways to make you feel better, so get your endorphins flowing and go for a walk, ride a bike or play tennis. You don't have to join a gym or get crazy, but getting a little cardiovascular exercise will not only give you more energy, but it'll make you feel a whole lot better about yourself as well.
Detox
Take a hard look at the people you spend the majority of your time with. If they leave you feeling drained and are constantly sending out negative energy, then maybe you should eliminate them from your life. It may seem harsh, but toxic people have a tendency of bringing others down around them. Instead of letting these people make you feel even worse, why not find people you actually enjoy being with?
Accept the challenge
If you usually turn down offers to do something because you fear you won't fit in, won't be able to accomplish the task or will make a fool of yourself, stop it! Say yes the next time someone asks you to go somewhere or to try something new. Often times your fears are far worse than reality and you will end up having a great time doing whatever it is you almost said no too. And who knows what new people you will meet or positive experiences you will have?
Learn something new
Have you always wanted to learn how to tap dance or weave a basket? Perhaps not, but whatever you would like to learn, maybe it's learning French, go out and find a class to take. Expand your horizons, meet new people and add one more thing to your repertoire of interesting things about yourself.
Put yourself first
It's your life and it'd be nice if you enjoyed it. It's often hard to recognize or admit you are in a rut and need to restructure some things, but if you start making little changes to how you approach things, you will find yourself feeling rejuvenated and more positive about your life.
